Keypad Display

Description

Zone Number

ZONE NO: -

Enter the zone number.

Refer to the Zone Numbers Table for available zone numbers.

Zone Name

*UNUSED*

Enter a zone name up to 32 alphanumeric characters. The zone name can display on keypads during arming and disarming, so users do not need to memorize zone numbers.

For a zone that is not part of the system, clear the zone name to mark it as *UNUSED*. Press any select key or area to clear the existing name, then press CMD. The name is automatically changed to *UNUSED*.

If Zone Information was cleared in Initialization, the zone is automatically marked as *UNUSED*.

Zone Location

ZONE LOCATION

If needed, enter a zone location name up to 32 characters that is separate from the zone name.

Enter a description location for the zone, such as 2nd Floor East Wing. The zone location is only sent to the monitoring center to help dispatchers identify where an alarm is triggered and does not display at the keypad.

Zone Type

ZONE TYPE: BLANK

– – NT DY EX

FI PN EM SV

A1 A2 AR IN

DB HU

The panel has 13 default zone types for configuring common zone applications. All zone types except Arming can be customized.

The zone type determines the panel response (Alarm Action) when a zone is opened or shorted. Depending on the zone type and its restrictions, up to 13 Alarm Action responses are available.

See Zone Type Descriptions.

When you assign a zone type to a zone, automatic alarm actions are made. Select one of the following zone types:

  • NT (Night)

  • DY (Day)

  • EX (Exit)

  • FI (Fire)

  • PN (Panic)

  • EM (Emergency)

  • SV (Supervisory)

  • A1 (Auxiliary 1)

  • A2 (Auxiliary 2)

  • AR (Arming)

  • IN (Instant)

  • DB (Doorbell)

  • HU (Holdup)

If you select Blank, Night, Day, Exit, Auxiliary 1, Auxiliary 2, or Arming as the zone type, assign the zone to an active area. If you select Fire, Panic, Holdup, Emergency, Supervisory as the zone type, it is a 24-hour zone that is always armed and no area assignment is needed.

Arm/Disarm Areas

ARM/DIS AREAS

📍 Displays if Zone Type is Arming

Enter the areas that the zone controls. When the zone changes from normal to shorted, the programmed areas toggle between the armed or disarmed condition using the Style programming.

When restored to normal, no action occurs. When the zone is opened from a normal (disarmed) state, a trouble is reported. When opened from a shorted (armed) state, an alarm is reported and the zone is disabled until you disarm the area(s) from a keypad, Virtual Keypad, or Remote Link computer.

Area Number Assignment

AREA NO: -

📍 Displays if Zone Type is Arming

Enter the area number where the Night, Day, Exit, Auxiliary 1, Auxiliary 2, or Instant zone is assigned. Area numbers 1 to 32 can be assigned.

Style

STYLE:

TGL ARM DIS STEP

MNT

This option allows you to choose the style for the arming/disarming operation.

Select one of the following styles:

  • TGL (default) — When the zone changes from normal to short, the programmed areas toggle between the armed or disarmed condition. When restored to normal, no action occurs. When the zone opens from a disarmed state, a trouble is reported. When opened from an armed state, an alarm is reported and the zone is disabled until the areas are disarmed.

  • ARM — When the zone is shorted, the programmed areas are armed. When restored to normal, no action occurs. When the zone is opened from a disarmed state, a trouble is reported. When opened from an armed state, an alarm is reported.

  • DIS — A short disarms the programmed areas. When restored to normal, no action occurs. When the zone is opened from a normal (disarmed) state, a trouble is reported.

  • STEP — The Arming type areas arm and the keypads beep once. A normal condition causes no action. An open condition disarms the programmed areas and the keypads beep for one second

  • MNT — When the zone is shorted, the programmed areas are armed. When restored to normal, the programmed areas are disarmed and any alarm bells are silenced. When the zone is opened from a normal (disarmed) state, a trouble is reported. If opened from a shorted (armed) state, an alarm is reported and the zone is disabled until you disarm the areas.

Alarm Action

ALARM ACTION….

DISARMED OPEN

DISARMED SHORT

ARMED OPEN

ARMED SHORT

This option allows you to change any Zone Type standard definitions. When the Zone Type is specified, the Alarm Action for that zone is stored in memory.

This feature allows you to configure the action taken by the panel when the zone is opened while the area is disarmed. There are three actions to define:

  • Report to transmit

  • Relay Output to activate

  • Relay Output action

Make these selections for the Disarmed Short, Armed Open, and Armed Short zone conditions.

Report to Transmit

MSG: NONE

A T L –

D S C

Select one of the alarm report options:

  • A (Alarm) — Send an alarm report to the receiver and activate the bell output according to zone type. The zone name appears in the panel alarmed zones and status lists.

  • T (Trouble) — Send a trouble report to the receiver. The zone name appears in the panel alarmed zones and status lists.

Note: UL requirements prevent the Alarm (A) and Trouble (T) action for Fire zone types from being changed.

  • L (Local) — Do not send alarm reports to the receiver. The bell output activates and the zone name appears in the panel alarmed zones and status lists.

  • - (Dash) — Do not send reports to the receiver. The bell output does not activate, and there is no display in the panel alarmed zones or status list. Only the relay output selected in the next section operates

  • D (Door Propped) — Allow Entry Delay 4 in System Options to begin counting without displaying on keypad. If the time expires and the zone has not returned to normal, the keypad trouble buzzer starts and Close the Door appears on the keypads programmed in Prewarn Address. If the time expires a second time, and the zone has not returned to normal, the output (if programmed) triggers, and a fault report is sent to the receiver and an Open message displays on the keypads until a code is entered.

  • S (Sensor Reset) — When the zone state changes, the bell is silenced, a Sensor Reset is performed, and an Alarm Bell Silenced (S34) is sent.

  • C (Cancel Ambush) — Cancel the Early Morning Ambush timer and stop an Ambush message from being sent to the receiver. Faulting the zone takes the place of a second user code being entered at the keypad and is only available for non-fire type zones. Area assignment for the zone does not affect this option. See Early Morning Ambush in Area Information.

Output Number

OUTPUT NO: 0

Enter any Relay Output number to be activated by a zone condition. The default is 0.

The output can be activated regardless of the Report to Transmit and if the zone is programmed as local. An output activated by an armed zone is turned off when the zone area is disarmed by a user.

Output Action

OUTPUT: NONE

STD PLS MOM FOLW

Select one of the following output actions to assign to the relay:

  • STD (Steady) — The output turns on and remains on until the area is disarmed, an output cutoff time expires, or the output is reset from the keypad menu.

  • PLS (Pulse) — The output alternates one second on and one second off.

  • MOM (Momentary) — The output turns on once for one second.

  • FOLW (Follow) — The output turns on and remains on while the zone is in an off normal or bad condition. When the zone restores, the output turns off. For Day zone types, when an output turns on, a user code with silence authority can turn the output off.

Note: After you make the selections in the sections above, the same three selections for Disarmed Short, Armed Open, and Armed Short display.

If the zone is a 24-hour type, only the Armed Open and Armed Short conditions display.

Swinger Bypass

SWGR BYP NO YES

Zone Type Descriptions

  • - (Blank Zone) — By default, no actions are programmed to occur with the Blank zone. Ensure a zone name is entered to use this zone type. This zone type is not the same as an *UNUSED* zone.

  • NT (Night) — Controlled instant zone used for perimeter doors and windows and interior devices such as PIRs and Glassbreak detectors

  • DY (Day) — Used for emergency doors or fire exit doors to sound the keypad buzzer and display the zone name when the zone is faulted. Day zones also send alarm reports to the receiver during the system armed periods.

  • EX (Exit) — Initiates the Entry Delay timer when its assigned area is fully armed. The zone can also initiate an Exit Delay timer to allow a user to exit an area after the arming process starts.

  • FI (Fire) — Used for any type of powered or mechanical fire detection device. Typical applications are for smoke detectors, sprinkler flowswitches, manual pull stations, and beam detectors. Retard, cross zoning, and presignal options are available for the Fire zone type.

  • PN (Panic) — Used for connecting to mechanical devices that allow a user to signal an emergency alarm, including key fobs programmed as panic zones. Panic zones can provide either a silent or audible alarm with or without reporting to a monitoring center.

  • EM (Emergency) — Used for reporting medical or other non-panic emergencies to the monitoring center

  • SV (Supervisory) — Used to provide 24-hour zone supervision to devices associated with fire systems. Typical applications are tamper switches on Post Indicator Valves (PIVs), gate valves, and low and high temperature gauges.

  • A1 and A2 (Auxiliary 1 and Auxiliary 2) — Used like a Night zone to protect restricted areas within protected premises

  • AR (Arming) — Used to allow you to connect a keyswitch to a zone, and arm and disarm one or more areas

  • IN (Instant) — Used as a zone that does not follow Entry or Exit zones. Choose Instant if you need a zone that does not follow the Entry or Exit delay.

  • DB (Doorbell) — Used as a zone assigned to doorbells.

  • HU (Holdup) — Used as silent panics, which do not trigger audial or visual alerts on the keypad

Cross Zoning Operation

When the first cross zoned zone trips, the Cross Zone Time in System Options begins to count down. When a second cross zoned zone trips or the first zone trips a second time before the end of the countdown, the Bell Action assigned to the zone activates and the panel sends an alarm report for both zones.

If no other cross zoned zone trips before the cross zone time expires, the panel only sends a zone fault report to the receiver. Cross zoning is not compatible with all zone types. You cannot enable cross zoning for any Fire zones that have Zone Retard Delay set to Yes.
